It is hard to let go of the past sometimes. In certain situations, we unconsciously revisit memories and feelings from previous experiences. But how can you change your focus, not looking back and move forward?
It is important to learn from the past. For instance, many times we are compelled to go back, access the uncomfortable truth of some occurrences of our life in order to move forward. But know that there is always a way to make that happen without turning it into a traumatic episode.
Living a happy life means gear our attitudes towards an optimistic view. Mistakes only matter if you learn from them and if you are willing to change. Our life is full of choices. Every day we wake up with an array of opportunities to do it right, to make it better, to improve and thrive.
Your emotions and feelings from past experiences in life may try to come back, almost like a saboteur, acting to stop you, not letting you focus on the future. The good news is that you can change that. You can change your attitudes towards living your best life.

How to Let go of the past
In order to move forward in your life and let go of the past, you need to heal. No matter the situation, the loss of a job, the end of a relationship or the death of a family member, healing is part of the journey.
Free your emotions: Cry, laugh, cry again. Let your emotions flow freely.
Think positive: Set your mind to brush the negative thoughts and think positive.
Struggles are opportunities: Learn from past experiences. Understand what went wrong and why.
No blaming game: Do not try to find someone to blame. Do not victimize yourself.
Move on: Plan your next steps. Have a plan in place, stick to it and move on.

Finding a purpose to move forward is a good strategy. You can either find a new hobby or set a new goal. The main reason here is to set your mind to focus on something else. Remember: your past will not define your future.
You are responsible for your own happiness, nobody else. When you look inside and understand what makes you happy, you are ready to go out there and get it. The past is gone. You cannot change it. Instead, make your future better and worthy of living.
